Cable Data Services

With involvement in the installation and maintenance of subsea cable since the formation of the industry back in 1850, OceanIQ has built an extraordinary and unique data set that is continually being enriched and updated by a specialist team of GIS experts. This wealth of information provides essential intelligence for cable owners globally and delivers accurate details of the 3 million km of subsea cables to others operating in multiple marine industries.

OceanIQ has developed a suite of submarine cable data products and services:

GeoCable Data & Software

Submarine Cable Map

Free to use and accessible for all, this map details generalised routes for all in-service fibre optic cables. We believe it to be the most accurate platform available to the general public today.

GeoCable® Light

A web-based platform to access accurate submarine cable route data, with no GIS training required. Data can be layered up to include the latest in-service fibre optic systems, out-of-service fibre optic, coaxial and telegraph cables.

GeoCable®Pro

With access to the full rich data set, GeoCable®Pro can be used in GIS software platforms, enabling users to develop their own routes, import and export route position lists (RPLs), and add the critical cable fault heat map information.

GeoCable® Software

Created by OceanIQ’s team, specifically for the purpose of cable route planning, the GeoCable® GIS Software package offers route planning functionality with RPL generation.

Cable Fault Data

Cable Fault Prediction Reports

Utilising a 6,500 strong database of global cable faults, OceanIQ can generate a report based on a specific RPL, that identifies the likely causes and potential number of faults for a future cable system.

Cable Fault Heat Map

This product acts as an overlay in GeoCablePro and enables the viewer to visualise areas at higher risk of cable faults. A wealth of supporting information is also available.

SEA Data Platform

SEA Data Records Management

The OceanIQ team can manage your submarine cable records on a secure platform, ensuring you have the most up-to-date and accurate data available to you when managing your cable asset.  Today, the team manages over 150,000km of in-service cable for customers globally.

Determining reliable cable ampacities for marine high voltage cables.

Determining reliable cable ampacities for marine High Voltage Cables is currently the subject of significant industry and academic reassessment in order to optimise the operation (ampacity), design (cross-sectional area) and subsequent efficiency, longevity, CAPEX and profitability of both submarine power cables and their dependencies (Enescu et...
